“Fed up with it” seems accurate. The people were simply fed up, and unwilling to keep going on the same road. So we took a road that we didn’t know, but we knew it wasn’t the one we were on. We weren’t sure where it would take us, but we weren’t going back to where we were.
Sounds dangerous, doesn’t it? I mean, we could look at the new road, and see it was rough, had some ruts, and we knew it might not be passable. But we just weren’t willing to stay on that other road, because no matter how smooth, we knew it led to a place we didn’t want to be.
Where will we end up?
Hopefully in a place where we can really afford health care, where we can exercise our constitutional freedoms without fear of reprisal, where our economy is stronger again, and where we are not over burdened with an oppressive tax code. A place where we can work, supporting ourselves and those that need our help, too.
“Look after widows and orphans” – James 1:27
There’s one thing about that place where we are going, even if we don’t know where it is. That is that we are going there together, and together, only together, can we make it the best place we’ve been. Only together, treating others as we would like to be treated, loving each one as a creation of God himself, knowing that they are loved by God every bit as much as we are. Put God first, others second, and yourself last.
